Finally have the site update competed. I expanded out our scope a little into the Emergency Services side. I volunteer for a few local groups and would like to start taking more pictures in that area, so this site has now become an outlet for that as well. Updates include Montgomery, American Heroes Airshow, and WPD CPA. I added older CERT pictures to round out the volunteer page. I hope to get more pictures at an upcoming drill.
Also added the first photographer picture. While doing this, I thought it might be interesting to branch off and add photographer pictures that have nothing to do with Sortie City as a way to showcase more of the talent away from normal stuff.

Holy Crap! Has it really been this long since a any real updates?? Things have been slowing down on the photo front. As far as military goes, we have taken some individual squadron shots, but life has been keeping us from much more. Personally, I have been doing more volunteer work with Cherokee county shooting pictures where they let me.
The current set of pictures taken in Canton, was a little different of a show for us. It was all helicopters except for a few fly overs. It was a very rewarding shoot and really enjoyed the day.

Spent an exciting time in Oceana! Glen and I had dinner with Dana and Ray, the webmaster of www.whileyouweredeployed.com and had some great conversation. Next up was spending some time at the end of the runway at NAS Oceana. Glen wore his Clemson bright orange sweatshirt and I think the pilots lined up on him to land. Then it was in to meet Capt. Shoemaker of CAG 17. He set us up right for the grand tour of the base. Then taught us to play some dice in the O-Club. Somehow, Glen and I both ended up buying rounds.

Put up Glen's shots to Poinsett. Finally getting the website pictures all on the same backgrounds etc.

Finally got Glen's shots up on the web.

Glen is up in Oceana to get the sunset images of the beloved F-14. I look forward to posting his pictures. I here he is doing some great networking up there as well.
On another front, we are excited to be putting together a picture CD of the "best of Sortie City" to start selling here soon. Also look for pages where individual shots can be purchased and emailed to you. Testing on the pages and payment system are underway.

Amazing. That is all I can say about this past weekend. Glen and I were up at Oceana for the historic homecoming of the last two active squadrons of F-14's. This was the final cruise for the Tomcats of VF 31 and VF 213. It is quite sad to see the old bird go. When the F-14 formation was spotted and flew over, the crowd was totally silent. I wondered on the plane ride back to Atlanta what airshows will be like in 10 or so years. Unless we support private enterprises that specialize in purchasing and flying older aircraft, then I bet they will be kinda dull. I hope to continue to get as many pictures of different aircraft as well as markings and such, for that inevitable day when all will be different toppings on the same ice cream.

Just a little housekeeping mainly this go round. Added 2 new patches. Glen, the PR Man is busy working the phones. Hopefully, things will pan out for a return trip to NAS Oceana next month and maybe a trip a little later down to NAS Jax. Keeping up with the guys at home, maybe a trip out to NAS Atlanta. Hopefully we will have some great new shots coming soon. Also, working on figuring out how to get video up on the site. Glen has been taking video while I do the shots and we want to share some of the experiences with the rest of the world.

Glen and I took a trip up to Poinsett Range in SC. It was a worthwhile trip. I have not seen the A-10 in quite a while, and to see it in action is quite amazing. Once I figure out how to get video up on the site, I'll add the awesome sound of the A-10's guns! I hope you enjoy. Thanks to the crew out there for showing us around and putting up with our questions.
11/06/05I finally got around to updating the whole site. I wanted to make a more professional look for future endevours and the past design was just not cutting it. Also, the old site was designed with dial-up connections in mind and that has changed a lot over the years. I also added a news feed from Aero-News. They are a large aero news site and I hope the feed adds a little freshness to the site on a daily basis. I have some other thoughts to do, so hopefully I can get those in this update as well. Please let me know if you like the new look!I finally got around to updating the whole site. I wanted to make a professional look for future endeavors and the past design was just not cutting it. 10/30/05Added pictures from the Chattanooga Show. These can be found in the Airshow Pictures Link. I also added pictures to the Nose Art and Tail Art Pages.
10/05/05Guess what.? More patches added. These are more of the final Tomcat patches, etc. I wanted to get them before they were gone.
10/03/05:Added a few more patches. These are some of the last that VF-101 issued. I have more to add in a few days. Also, added a few pictures to the Various Mil-Air page. I'm still working on a good way to get the older 35 mm negatives scanned and onto the site.

Finally got Glen's pictures up on the NAS Oceana & Fentress 2005 page. Glen is also setting the stage for his daughter to take his camera away and take over the shooting. Take a look at the up and coming aircraft photographer, Savannah Childress, on the Around Oceana Page.
VMFA-142 Gators from NAS Atlanta returned today from Iraq. Due to last minute changes, we were not able to get the pictures exactly the we wanted, but I did get a few on their approach, which I will post in the near future. I know that we look forward to working with the Gators in the future and will bring you the results!
October looks to be a little more busy now for airshows. At the beginning of the October will find us in Memphis, TN. for a show there featuring the Snowbirds and Blue Angels. Also, the Peachtree City show and maybe Chattanooga at the end of the month.7/17/05
We had a great trip to NAS Oceana. Glen is quite a PR man! He arranged a trip to NAS Oceana and then to NALF Fentress. I think that I took about 350 pictures. I'll add more commentary about the trip on the different pages in the next day or so. I have a few tail shots to add as well. To see the pictures, please visit the NAS Oceana & Fentress 2005 link. On the airshow front, it is looking scarce. We are looking at the Peachtree City show and maybe Chattanooga. They are not until the fall, so we have some time to decide.
5/15/05
Thanks for stopping by. With all that is going on around the world, airshows are being cancelled to keep the resources where they need to be.
We are still looking for some shows to go to for the summer/fall. We will keep you posted. Glen Childress has been busy making valuable contacts around the fleet. I finally got up his pictures that were taken in January, in Oceana, VA. We hope that
it will lead to more time on the base up there. He has also taken some great pictures from Poinsett Weapons Range, in SC. I'll start working on those as soon as I get the CD.
4/01/05
Got Glen's pictures up from his trip to NAS Oceana. I added a few pictures from this trip to the Nose Art & Tail Art Sections.
11/02/04
Finally got all of the links working again after a big screw up on my part. Some pages were directing to an older link and it took some time and digging to find it. I finally got Glen's pictures to show up in the NAS Oceana, Saturday folder
9/28/04
Added pictures from the Oceana Show taken on Friday night and Saturday. These can be found in the Airshow Pictures Link. I also added some squadron patches to the Patch Page, and added pictures to the Nose Art and Tail Art Pages.
